I am still about confused about the difference between channels and tracks - the terms seem to be used almost interchangeably, which doesn't seem right.Īnyway, I hope this is useful to someone!Īnd thanks to all you helpful problem-solvers! I didn't seem to have to set the channels on the Aria player itself to 'Omni', as other people on the thread seemed to have had to - the channel number in the Aria Player's channel number dropdowns seem to automatically set to 01, 02, 03, 04 etc when the Aria player is loaded, and this seems to work just fine as it is - as long as the channel numbers on the track inspector strips are changed as I've mentioned. The Channel number on the track inspector is the dropdown menu just below the FX bin/window, near the top left of the screen, and it will normally initially show 'c none'. To me it seems that the absolutely key thing is setting the Channel number on the track inspector strips to "1: Aria Player VST _圆4" or "2: Aria Player VST _圆4", etc., to indicate which Channel in the Aria player you want that midi track in X1 to control. Just wanted to say that as someone who has been banging his head against the wall that seems to be Aria running under Sonar X1, this thread has been invaluable and the thread has enabled me at last to set up different midi tracks controlling different instruments on the Aria. the “Pocket Orchestra”) that came with Sonar X1 (which plays the samples through Dimension Pro, rather than the Aria player), I’m able to get all of the different instruments layered in together, and I can play them all from my keyboard.Īny ideas on what might be going on here? When I use other soft synths, including the stripped down version of Garritan (i.e.

However, I am only able to play the patch that comes up in the first slot. So, the Aria player seems to be loading right. I am able to open up the “ensemble” patches, which contain multiple instruments. I’ve got MIDI running from my keyboard (a Roland XP-50) thru my computer interface (a PreSonus Firepod) as a controller. I’ve been trying to add some orchestral tracks with Garritan Personal Orchestra.

I’m relatively new to DAW-based recording and I’m VERY inexperienced with soft synths. I actually know quite a bit about audio production, but I learned about recording way back in the analog days. Only getting one voice to play at a time on Garritan Personal Orchestra
